Misleading- Did Hamas detain children in cages?

In response to the wishes expressed by our readers and their requests, we have carried out this special translation of articles from the Arabic language into English. We’ve also provided all the necessary updates.
This text is a translation of the article published on October 14th, titled’’هل قامت حركة حماس بحجز أطفال في أقفاص’’

In a significant development, a video purportedly showing Israeli children imprisoned in cages, shared by Ashlea Simon, a prominent figure of the far-right group "Britain First," has sparked widespread outrage across social media platforms. The video, which surfaced on the X-Twitter platform on October 8, 2023, was accompanied by Simon's incendiary commentary labeling Hamas as "savage" for the alleged act.

However, a research into the source of the video by the team "TuniFact" revealed that the original uploader was a TikTok user with the handle “user6903068251281,” also known as "مظلوم في بلادي" (Oppressed in my Country). The individual behind the account had deleted and then restored their account, removing the controversial video. Furthermore, the account holder released another video asserting that the children depicted were his relatives, not Israeli captives. He confirmed that the video was filmed three days prior to the "Al-Aqsa flood" operation. ‘’ طوفان الأقصى’’

Scrutiny of the video revealed that the laughter and the repeating of the phrase "Oua al-Zaitouna" (Beware the Olive) was added post-production using a TikTok voice-over feature. This soundbite had been used in numerous videos before the commencement of the Al-Aqsa operation.

The quest for the video's origin led to the official account of American journalist Ed Krassenstein, who on October 8, 2023, posted a screenshot from "مظلوم في بلادي" indicating that the video was uploaded four days ago—further confirming it was recorded before the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation occurred.

Given these findings, we have classified the news of the kidnapping and detention of Israeli children by Hamas as misleading.
